In the beginning of this year, the new decade, I decided to cut a lot of bullshit out of my life. No more:
- Coke-Zero
- Del Taco
- Foods-with-added-sugar
- Magic: the Gathering
A few months went by, coronavirus hit but I still stuck to it. It was great to no longer be forced to eat cake at birthday parties. It really cut down on the amount of money I was wasting by eating out and playing MtG.
I found that I was compensating in other ways though, and two were particularly harmful IMO: I was drinking a lot of coffee and smoking a lot of weed.
This last weekend I had a bit of a panic attack after toking – thought I was dying. Tried to calm down as much as possible and about four hours later I was fine. The thing that gets me though is this was two hits off a vape pen. Weed is just so strong these days; I don’t think I can handle it.
So I’m calling it quits on weed (possibly permanently?), and I’m decreasing my coffee consumption to one cup in the morning, and I’m going to try to give it up entirely (except for on the weekend).
Here’s to shedding who we once were. May we live long enough to forgive where we came from and embrace how we end up.
